██ DAY 4 █████████████████████████

Today I started to strip out the content from the original game that was submitted and updated for the game jam.

My goal for this is to streamline and clean up the coding so that there is 1 eventsheet to run everything, this way I can edit one sheet and it would effect everything in the game and be more like object oriented coding like I’m getting use to in Unity. The problem I have had was if something changed on level 10 then I would need to go back and fix it in every single level, this is something that takes sooo much time, so hopefully I can get everything working with one page of code.

Building the play area. My other goal is to build out a testing area so I can get all the assets for the game and test them, I realize this is something that should have been done in the first place, but I do love to wing it… so I’m trying to do things the right way this time.

I did have to remove some of the worlds and their sorta gimmick as I didn’t think it would work right, the game works under very tight mouse controls, so taking away that control seemed bad, so I have to come up with two more ideas for that, but I think mostly I just need to keep it simple with the mechanics, but make the level and the combination of things create the complexity.

I still have so much work to do, and although I’m only just getting started, I’m finding it a bit difficult to dive in. However, this blog is helping me focus, so it’s useful. In six months, I’ll either have a finished game… or you’ll be reading the ramblings of a mad man who keeps talking about building a game but never actually does it. Both should be interesting… 😛
