Getting back on track

Getting back on track

██ DAY 21 █████████████████████████ It’s a bit frustrating that, 21 days into the month, I’m already making a post about getting back on track. I haven’t worked on my game as much as I’d hoped in February, but I’ve been brainstorming a lot—taking notes, refining ideas, and mentally working through different aspects of the game.

One thing I think I’ve finally nailed down is Morty’s role. He’s the main character in some way, but I’m still deciding whether he’s more of a helpful (yet untrustworthy) guide or a full-on antagonist like GLaDOS, constantly critiquing your puzzle-solving skills. I like the idea of him offering “half-assed” advice, making you question whether he’s actually trying to help or just messing with you.

I’ve also figured out the core mechanic for boss fights. The idea is that you’ll have to aim Box One to collide with Morty as he moves around. Each successful hit will unlock the next box, meaning you’ll need to hit him three times to unlock all three and complete the puzzle. The final version might evolve a bit, but I think this is a solid foundation. Now, I just need to design eight unique and fun variations for each boss encounter.

Time to get back to work!
