Thinking.

Thinking.

██ DAY 13 █████████████████████████ I spent the last few days just watching the video I uploaded and thinking about the game… which is kind of like working on it. Yesterday was a VERY busy day for me with work—I pretty much just worked and made book covers all day.

Thoughts

I can’t decide what the bosses will be like in my game. My original idea was what I would call “boss puzzles,” which would just be harder versions of the puzzles that have already been done. These would combine everything learned in the previous levels. But… while I like this idea, I don’t think it’s enough, and I feel like it’s kind of boring. My second idea is to make Mort a bigger part of the game than he currently is. I haven’t 100% figured out the whole hook of the game as far as the story goes, but you are in a dungeon that is digital in nature, and Mort is obviously running the show. I keep thinking it would be cool if he was more involved, so I’m thinking really hard about him interacting more with the levels.

Interactions

I’m thinking Mort can do things before the level starts—place bombs or traps, or maybe Mort himself is the bomb or trap, and you have to figure out how to disable his cart. I also think at the end of every stage, Mort could decide to take matters into his own hands and beef up his hover platform to fight you via puzzles. I’m imagining he could attach the boxes to his ship or actively knock things out of place, etc.

But mostly the last few days have just been tweaking things and thinking about the game. I want one more level of interactions outside of the puzzles, I think having a boss could really be neat.

Overall, I’m still thinking and still very busy with my day job. I do plan on working on the game this weekend, so hopefully, I’ll have a bigger update then! I think I am very close with the explosion feel, so next will be the box feel.
