It Needs More, I think…

So I’ve hit a major sorta design/idea roadblock. I’m trying to push through it but I can’t see to figure out what else my game needs and it’s sorta slowed down my progress somewhat, along with being busy. It could also just be burn out from sitting at my desk.

I decided to push through it and work on level artwork. Since I’m using the Kenney 1-bit pack generally my artwork direction is set. I am adding some of my own custom artwork, design and animations to the mix, but 80-90% is from the Kenney pack just chopped up. Working on the artwork now seems like a decent idea because I’m going to need the world art, and I doubt much will change from now until I start work on the levels.

Working on the Slime Factory level artwork now. My ideas are the hazards are going to be glowing somewhat with this chromatic glitch look, this way it breaks up the just all black and white, I think it’s a striking look. My only issue is I feel like it’s missing key something, maybe it’s just because it’s a mockup in photoshop currently and nothing is animated, I feel like if I can really nail this look, it will be so cool looking.

But still working, any progress these days is good and it keeps the project moving forward.
