Moving Forward

Moving Forward

██ DAY 23 █████████████████████████ Moving forward, I’m not going to post on the actual NEXIFY tag about delays caused by my day job. There are 100% going to be delays until I figure out a better balance. So, this post will be the last one that touches on this aspect. I felt like the last few posts about the game have just been me posting about how tired, delayed, and behind I am, which isn’t really about the game. So, I’m going to put posts like this in a separate category… maybe I’ll call them “Tired and Delayed,” lol.

The reason I’m posting this to NEXIFY is because I have made some progress with the demo. My focus has switched to getting a really good and polished demo, then building off of that. I just think that’s the best way to move forward with how busy I am currently with my work. I thought this year I would have about double or triple the amount of time to work on games, but it turns out the first two months of the year have been the busiest of my career in making book covers and in publishing. So, it’s been really tough to keep up, and unfortunately, my time to work on games has taken a hit. But I have been making good money, so my hope is that in a few months I can slow down, stop working, and focus purely on games.

With the demo, I have a very neat idea that I’ve been writing a story and script for. The basic ideas are down, and I have everything I need currently to build out the levels. It will include 12 levels and a boss, and it will be 100% unique (except for the tutorial stuff). It will also include a hardcore mode after the game is beaten the first time, as well as a unique soundtrack and achievements.

The biggest thing I hope to get from the demo is feedback for the game and what people think about it. The thing that’s most important, though, is that I am making progress. Although it’s slow, there are still things happening—maybe just not enough to warrant a full blog post.
